Create a Romantic Dinner for Two

All relationships can benefit from an occasional shot of romance, regardless of how long the couple has been together. Maintaining sensuousness is a key to keeping your love life fresh and exciting. Here are a few ideas for creating a romantic dinner for you and the love of your life.

Romantic dinner candles and insense picture

Begin before your partner gets home by setting out a bowl of potpourri. If you want to create a slightly more masculine feel, try adding some heavier types of things, such as dried corn or peppers or perhaps a few cinnamon sticks to the mixture. You can add a bit more scent to the room by placing aromatic bars of soap in selected out-of-the-way places. Candles are always a nice touch, of course, as well as a romantic centerpiece on the dining room table, combined with soft music in the background to add to the ambience. Candles also come in various scents, to add to the exotic feel of the overall atmosphere.

If your plan for an after dinner activity includes a little passionate lovemaking, try placing large pillows all around the room. You may even want to eat on the floor, off of bed trays, so you'll already be in a relatively horizontal position.

Your choice of meal will depend a great deal on the tastes of both yourself and your partner, so we don't need to spend much time talking about that, except that your food choice should be something that's not too complicated to consume. It should be something that's easy enough to eat that the two of you can still talk, hold hands, or engage in whatever other type of intimate activity that might come to mind. The bottom line here is that you want the dinner menu to augment the overall romantic mood, not to become the focal point of the entire evening.

If you happen to live in an area that has beautiful scenery, by all means, take the time to use it to its fullest advantage. If there happens to be a gorgeous sunset that night, spend time admiring it and basking in its beauty together as a loving couple. Sip champagne and experience the simple joy of just being together, sharing a sensuous romantic meal in an intimate atmosphere. You might even think about hand-feeding each other, which can also be quite titillating and sensual. Keep the conversation light and soft, and avoid any topics that will in any way decrease the romantic nature of your time together. This is your time, away from all the cares of the world, and if shouldn't be rushed or lessened in any way.

You've created a wonderful sensual atmosphere, a sensuous dinner, and you've carefully set the stage for romance. From that point on, whatever happens will be strictly up to the two of you!
