Sexual Healing: Stress, Sleep, Food, and Vitamins for Sex

The cornerstone of a woman's general health is nutrition and diet, but both of those factors can also have an impact on your sexual health, as well. As a woman ages, her hormone levels decrease, and with that comes a corresponding decrease in libido. However, monitoring your stress level, sleep, and diet can greatly increase the vitality of your love life.

Stress, Sleep, and Sex

Decreasing your stress level and getting enough sleep are also significant factors toward enhancing your sexual life in the bedroom. You'll be more relaxed and refreshed, which will offer you a greater opportunity to experience orgasms during sex. There have been a number of studies that seem to indicate that you can decrease your stress level significantly through yoga and meditation, but you will likely find that a hot bath and a good book will also go a long way toward reducing stress.

Food for Thought Sex

The first thing to look for is foods that are rich in Vitamin E, magnesium, niacin, potassium, zinc, and amino acids. You'll also want to avoid fatty foods, which can lower sexual desire by blocking arteries and decreasing blood flow to your various erogenous zones. Increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables will help lower your cholesterol level, strengthen your heart, and increase your blood flow, all of which will, in turn, increase your sexual energy and stimulation. Taking daily vitamin supplements and multivitamins will help, too, increasing your energy level and your overall sexual vitality.

THE Sex Vitamin and Other Natural Cures

Vitamin E has been called "the sex vitamin" over the years, because research has shown that it can be helpful for both men and women in enhancing their sexual responses to stimuli. Niacin also seems to have a profound affect on both the sexual and adrenal hormones in the body. Taking niacin can imitate the type of natural flush that comes over the human body when it becomes sexually aroused by dilating blood vessels, thereby allowing more blood to flow into the sexual organs. (And whether you're a man or a woman, increased blood flow is a key factor in increasing sexual arousal and performance.)

Simply improving your diet and nutrition will go a long way toward helping improve your sex life, and the fact that you'll also feel better, look better, and live longer are nice bonuses, too. After all, if you feel better about yourself and look better to your partner, it's nice to know that you'll also live longer, which will allow you to keep enjoying sex for many years to come.
